As a parent of a graduate of Perkiomen, a senior at Perkiomen (he started in 7th grade) and a sophomore at Perk, I can honestly tell you it is a truly wonderful school, it will change your child's life and their future. My oldest child enjoyed the teachers, and she was able to really find her own path, she made life long friends from around the world. My current senior, Perk has changed his life. The Middle School at Perk was the perfect place for my son to really work hard at the building blocks of education, he was able to blossom and really be challenged in the Upper School. The teachers really want to know your child, so they are able to challenge each student to really reach their potential and go further then what they thought they could do. My daughter connecs with every person at Perk, she works hard on her studies but also is being taught life long lessons in the wonderful Theater department, as well as her coaches for swimming and lacrosse. My children were day students, they were always welcomed into the community of the school, now as boarders they are able to make strong bonds with the other students as well as get to know the faculty and staff as part of a Perk Family. The admission staff will take the time to get to know you, and understand your child. Please do not let the fear of the "cost" stop you from finding out more about Perkiomen, they have a wonderful financial aid program that truly does work hard for each family, my own children attend on scholarships for which we are very grateful for.It is more than a school for your child, Perk becomes your family, there are so many wonderful areas for parents to volunteer to become part of Perk, you able to really connect with other Perk families and make life long connections, friends.
I attended the Perkiomen School for five years, 8th - 12th grade, and during my time there I had one of the most memorable and unique experiences of my young life to date. While at Perkiomen you will create incredible bonds and relationships with not not only all grades of the student body but also with the faculty as they truly become parent like figures in your life. The facilities at Perkiomen are top notch and every year when I return for alumni weekend I notice that they have either renovated another building for the technological age in education (Smart boards in class rooms, iPad rental/use, online class w/ video, etc) or they are under way with construction of a new facility. During my five boarding years at Perkiomen I learned how to properly manage my time between academics, my personal life, athletics, and the various other activities occurring in your life at any given time. Through refined time management skills college became much easier to manage and graduate from within four years. Perkiomen was an excellent experience and I appreciate everything I learned and continue to learn from this institution.
The most important thing about going to a high school is getting into a great college, and Perkiomen certainly helped me to accomplish that. Education is always the number one priority for Perk. You will not be disappointed by its system. Faculties and teachers did a great job teaching the kids, in and out of the classroom. Secondly, discipline is also fairly crucial. Although students do have to follow certain rules, those rules are the reason why Perk students will be a lot prepared for colleges. Finally, people there bond to each other, including teachers and faculties. Perk is certainly like a community and family. When I look back, attending to Perkiomen was definitely one of the most important decisions of my life, and surely, I am satisfied with the choice I made.
My Perkiomen experience affected me personally, academically, and athletically in very positive ways. Being from New Orleans and far away from home, I was forced to mature quicker than I had planned. Personally, having to have my room clean at 7:20 every morning or serving food during dinner taught me responsibilities that have stayed with me as I raise my children. The academic structure was great because of the small student/teacher ratio allowed for more personal attention. Athletically, I was allowed to maximize my abilities which led to my induction to the Perk Athletic Hall of Fame. I could go on forever gushing about my one year at Perk as it was tremendous and something that I cherish dearly.
I love this school. I graduated from Perk in 2003. It taught me time management, world culture, literature, and science. All this education from the teachers and the students before I was 18.
It’s not just a school, it’s a community of professionals that care for the youth they teach. The best and most caring teachers that I ever had were from Perk. They truly love their job and want to inspire the students they teach.
There is an international student body. I found this to be one of the best aspects of the school. I learned about different cultures and countries by just talking first hand to the people who lived there. My friends taught me as I taught them. I learned about the world, not just from books but from the actual people.
I often go back to visit my former mentors and take pleasure in staying in contact with them. I am proud to have gone there and be known as a part of the school.
