My son has had serious challenges since the age of twelve. We had to do a great deal of research. We went through numerous counselors whose advice was superficial at best. We saw one other Adolescent Psychiatrist who asked enough questions to prescribe medications and obviously had no other interest in my son.
We had heard good things about Dr. Infante and it was very fortunate that she had an opening in her schedule. She continued the meds with some modification but it was evident from the start that through conversations with my son that she intended to know as much about his psyche as possible. She asked questions and responded with advice where possible. She was non-judgmental and encouraged trust and openness. My son developed trust (that was rare for him) and looked forward to their visits.
Dr. Infante always displayed faith in him and indicated her belief that he would become a functioning adult. Given what we had been through, I was skeptical. However, he is now 21 years old and functioning medication free. With his experience and Dr. Infante's help he has a broader understanding of the human psyche than people much older than himself.
