  The New York School of Music is by far one of the best places around to learn music/ grow as a musician. As someone who as taken lesson there for now about 3 years i can vouch and say that the teachers and staff there are some of the nicest, most patient and accommodating people I have ever met. They’re always accommodating and helpful in anyway they can be, they’ve always given me makeups when needed and are flexible to my busy schedule. The teachers there are very compassionate and care about their students success. Not only have I grown as a musician tremendously since going there but I know several people who have gone to there and grown tremendously. The New York School of music also has programs like Rock Bands which I personally have made long lasting friendships in these programs by meeting other musicians and bonding with them. The New York school of music I can honestly say is amazing in all aspects with some of the most kind and caring people you will ever meet. Definitely recommend!

  As someone who has had a hard time finding a good music school, I can say for sure that NYSM is fantastic and deserves more than 5 stars if that were possible! I have been taking voice lessons with one of their instructors Sinclair and am also a part of this summer's Rock Band Camp and have thoroughly enjoyed both aspects so far. As soon as I started there I immediately felt comfortable both in the building and with the staff/instructors, not only are they really helpful and talented but they're also very patient encouraging and easy to work with. Anytime anyone expresses an interest in learning something musical, I suggest this place because it really is the best around. I love it here!

  In summary for those looking for quick reviews: NYSM is absolutely amazing and I recommend it to everyone looking into music, if I could give them more than 5 stars I would do so in a heartbeat! I have been taking lessons here consistently for about 7 years now, 6 of which were on guitar with Rory while the last one has been both drums with Sal and vocals with Brendan. All three of them have been beyond excellent, I literally cannot overstate just how much they have helped me in everything music-related whether it be the specific instrument they're teaching or general music theory or writing music or even some fun technical styles used by different musicians and how they work. I have also done 4 or 5 different programs with them, the first of which being a Rolling Stones tribute band back before the pandemic, the most recent of which is the upcoming Summer Rock Band; each and every one of these experiences has been an absolute blast and have formed what quite possibly could be some of my best memories especially as a musician. The teachers at the New York School of Music are some of the most knowledgeable, easy to work with, talented, and supportive people I have ever had the privilege of working with in the music field. The two teachers who run most of the school's happenings are named Sinclair and Brendan, and not only are they well-versed in multiple instruments as well as singing, but they are also some of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life; they are often my go-to when I have questions regarding music or the school's policies and they are always extremely flexible when it comes to any issues or scheduling conflicts. My girlfriend and I have been taking voice lessons with Sinclair and Brendan respectively and not only feel immense progress has been made in a short time, but also feel more confident in general and have a newly refined appreciation for the performing arts as a whole. The same can be said for my other teachers during my time at the school, Sal and Rory: the progress in skill and particularly its pace is absurd. I am close to 20 years old now, and have been coming here since I was 12. Let me tell you personally, it's not an exaggeration to say this place has had a major positive impact on my life. And it seems to be getting better and better as time goes on, even considering the Pandemic. Every month they host a little performance in their upstairs stage area called The Den for the students, and I recommend checking one out sometime to see just how much talent they have in the building - You'll want to join up as soon as you hear what the students can do! Needless to say, I'll continue to come back here for many years and am always happy to participate in their programs when possible.

  If you're looking for a music school for yourself or your children to learn an instrument or become more confident in their ability, there simply is no better place than the New York School of Music here in Walden. The teachers are all fantastic, the programs are ridiculously fun and useful for experience in music, everyone is very supportive and helpful with questions, they have useful items in a pinch (such as strings, drumheads, picks, etc.) for sale downstairs at pretty fair prices, host fun performances for students every month, and has been one of the few places I know that actually seems to be getting even better post-Pandemic as more and more things are being offered. At the very least, head in and check the place out maybe sign up for a trial lesson to get a feel for it; I'm 99.9% sure you'll want to stay on the schedule there from then on! 100/10 recommended for anyone with an interest in music!

  I highly recommend this school My son has attended Rock Camps and has taken private instruction. The instructors are excellent and work well with the students at all levels. Most recently, we needed to prepare our son for a college audition. He was applying to a special program that required a jazz guitar audition. As a classic rock musician, he needed some guidance. Donna Hall, the owner of the school, matched our son up with an instructor and got him ready for the audition. His performance was a success and I cannot thank the school enough.

  I have been very happy with the New York School of Music. Their experienced (and patient) instructors and very supportive owner are what makes their programs and lessons so strong. We are very fortunate that the school provides a vehicle for both my son and daughter to expand their musical knowledge beyond what our public school provides. My kids especially like the Rock Camp program over the summer (this summer marks my son's 6th year and my daughter's 3rd year at Rock Camp). Having very supportive Rock Camp mentors and musical campers, allows my kids to shine when they hit the stage as a live act at the end of the program. An experience they would not otherwise get. The school's programs have certainly elevated my children's playing capabilities and in particular their confidence! I recommend the school for lessons, Rock Camp and the other programs they offer like their conservatory. And when my son breaks a drum stick or needs to pick up sax reeds or sheet music, we can get it at their store as well.
