Very nice aviation museum. It is very organized. Very friendly people who explain to you how the plane works. You can get into the cockpit and try to do some movement in the wings and tail of the plane
I absolutely loved my visit and wish. I had more time (I only had about and hour to tour the museum). They have so many neat aircraft, informative exhibits, and interactive dispalys. I hope to visit again!
What an amazing museum and a hidden secret what is the nearest the Hartford airport in Connecticut.
As a X flight attendant, I’ve always been fascinated with airplanes and the mystery of flight.
Every aircraft imaginable is on display along with the history associated with it.
It’s also a great museum for families with children.
My favorite parts of the experience were the restored, Eastern Airlines DC3, flying an F-18 in the sim and the restored control car of a blimp. Honestly, the entire exhibit was exciting, too many to list, just get yourself there sometime and spend a day, reminiscing and rediscovering.
The collection gathered at the New England Air Museum is worth the price of admission on its own. Yet they go above and beyond, adding plenty of additional information and much needed context to the aircraft on display. Since I had the opportunity to visit with a friend who is an aerospace engineer I was treated to additional information on all of the numerous jet engines cut away for a view of their interior.
Each and every aircraft on display invited further inspection but I was most intrigued by the B-29 on display. It's a special experience getting up close to a bomber which is so large and majestic. The Goodyear ZNPK-28 Blimp Control Car also stood out due to its unique visual profile and often overlooked role in WW2.
It would be wise to budget at least 2 hours for your visit, and if you have kids there are spaces geared specifically towards them, in addition to the primary hangar areas.
This place is amazing! Myself and a coworker were stranded by our airline for a couple days, so rather than do nothing, he discovered the air museum. WOW!! Certainly not a disappointment at all. We ended up taking our time and staying almost four hours! The aircraft have been well taken care of, and you can even get into some of them with the assistance of the helpful staff!! I totally recommend this place to anyone who is into aviation!!
