Office visits are kid friendly and welcoming. You really feel heard and that they care about you and your baby, unlike any OBGYN I’ve been to. Had a home birth with Camille and it was a very great experience. Would highly recommend!
You won’t get the quality of care and attention Camille and Kathleen give anywhere else. They actually listen and are always available to you. The receptionist, Sara, is quick to respond to emails and is very sweet and pleasant to work with.
As a bonus, if you already have children, their office is very kid-friendly. There are toys and both ladies are very good with kids. They are very accommodating. If I took my toddler to my old OB it would be a nightmare!
Highly recommend!
We interviewed four or five midwives before we interviewed these ladies. It was instantly that we decided to go with them. They made me feel so secure no matter what happened, they would be with me every step of the way. And when my home birth turned into an unscheduled c- section, Kathy was indeed there through it all.
When I googled to get to the midwives website (because for whatever reason my browser doesn't save it) I kept seeing that the review rating was surprisingly low. Finally reading the negative review I felt the need to throw in my two cents. I have been seeing these midwives throughout my pregnancy and had a consultation before I conceived as well. We are planning a home birth and are due in about 7 weeks. This is my first pregnancy and I have felt very supported through the whole process. While I want to have my baby at home, I didn't want to throw all aspects of modern medicine out the window and in that respect Midwifery Traditions has been great. I feel that I have received all the same routine screenings and tests as any of my peers seeing obstetricians, without any of the "icky" parts of having unnecessary vayinal or cervical exams, leaving constant urine samples, or even having to deal with a receptionist or stuffy waiting room. It is also comforting to know that the midwives can attend me at their hospital if that becomes necessary.
In my experience the midwives have been very upfront about costs, providing me with a financial agreement at one of our first visits. I did pay for my consultation but it makes sense for a professional to value their time. They charge a homebirth fee on a sliding scale based on your family income, and they accept my insurance for the typical birth costs. I knew during my enrollment time that I was planning to conceive so I chose to switch from my high deductible plan to something more affordable. My FSA reimbursed me for the home birth fee (and of course I fully funded it at the beginning of the year knowing I'd be using it all). I am on a Cigna plan. The midwives aren't responsible for what insurance plans will cover and I would not fault them for one minute about the costs. Having a baby in America can be prohibitively expensive no matter who you are seeing for care. I for one appreciate that they are operating in such a legitimate way and that they follow my insurance plan costs. I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing someone who operated in a less professional fashion.
On a personal level, all the midwives bring their own flavor to my care and I appreciate every one of their inputs. I have felt listened to and cared for every step of the way. If it's possible to update the review I will do so once my birth happens.
