If you want help you can get help. If you just want methadone you can get that too. All programs are what you make of them really. As with any other MMT facility you get what you put into it. I would reccommend an IOP program for someone who has never been on an MMT program before coming to JFK because groups can really help someone get back on a regular schedule. I cant really say anything negative about JFK because without their help I dont know where I would be today. If you've tried medically assisted detoxing or suboxone or cold turkey detox and have failed maybe MMT is the way to go. Its a medication that really does help with opioid dependence and addiction. Yes they are two seperate things. Some people are addicts and some people are dependant and want to get away from opioids and regular doctors who have a license to prescribe have no clue how to wean someone off safely aand effectively besides just saying this is your last script good luck hope everything works out. Anyways like i said you will reap what you sow with anything including MMT.
