  I have been getting my hair cut by Alex since I have moved to NJ in 2019. From the first cut I knew I found my new barber, he's very professional, keeps up to date on industry standards, all while keeping the old school barber feeling alive.   if you're getting your hair cut anywhere else you're missing out. this is the undisputed, most elite spot in Monmouth County, and most likely new jersey. none of that 12 chair haircut factory 45 minute wait even though you have an appointment nonsense. Just you and Master Barber Alex. Get the haircut you deserve, come here.

  Absolutely love this place. Alex is extremely personable, and takes customer service very seriously. And of course, his haircuts are the best in the area. He actually sits and listens to what you want, and then asks questions to make sure that you are both on the same page. I do not think that I can say that I have had a better hair experience!

  Alex is a true professional in the hair industry. Alex has been cutting my hair for over two years and I wouldn't trust anyone else. Alex's passion and love of what he does shows in his work and demeanor. He takes his time with every client, is super friendly, and ensures you are comfortable with your hair.

  There are a lot of nice hair studios and salons in Asbury Park but Matte Black is truly in a league of its own. Alex’s expertise and passion shines through on every cut, fade, and trim. Aside from his work, Alex is a genuinely nice guy and he treats every customer like a friend. He will make you feel like you belong, he is accepting, and he always puts his clients first. I highly recommend checking out Matte Black for a cut or even just to stop by and see what it’s all about.
