(April 28, 2023, 1:43 pm)My all time favorite bakery and café! I've been going to Mattarello since they opened in 2020 and I can't say enough good things about them. They have the BEST sfogliatelle I've ever had - especially when they are fresh out of the oven! Their coffee is high quality and have a ton of great hot and iced options. The Siciliano is my favorite!
They have an awesome selection of pastries, like lobster tails, cannoli, bombolone, rum baba, rainbow cookies, St. Joseph Zeppole, cream puffs, and so much more. They also have an assortment of Italian cookies and cakes. A section of the café has authentic Italian products like pasta, sauces, jam, olives and packaged cookies. They also have gelato over the summer!
Their staff and owners are so friendly and really make you feel at home. I would give 500 stars if I could. :) -

(April 10, 2023, 4:09 pm)The bakery our family has used for years closed recently, so we needed to find a new bakery for Easter, particularly one that had Italian wheat pies. I came across Mattarello when searching for the pie and realized I’ve driven past it a number of times. My mom and I went there and were so impressed with their cakes, pastries, and other assorted Italian goods offered. We purchased a wheat pie and ordered some pastries ahead for pickup on Easter Day. We loved the ambiance of the cafe so much that we decided to have some cappuccinos and share a tiramisu - all delicious! It was such a nice little treat in a pretty spot that we’ll now make our regular place. The wheat pie was the best we’ve ever had, and all the other pastries were a hit, too! I must give a shout out to the staff for being so warm, friendly, and helpful for dining in, ordering ahead, and picking up. All in all, a great place with great goods and great people!

(November 5, 2022, 8:40 am)Mattarello is such an asset to Montclair! The pastries are always so delicious and fresh (with such a great variety) and I love their coffee and espresso. I was especially blown away by their service this week- I needed a cake within a smaller time frame than usual, and they were so accommodating to my needs to make sure I could get it in time; the owner even called me to confirm that it’d be ready for me (and it was so delicious)! Can’t recommend Mattarello enough.

(September 5, 2022, 10:53 am)Amin and the team will take great care of you! Brought pastries from here to a friend who typically cooks her “gravy" for three days plus - they were a huge hit! From fridge to insulated bag back to fridge - the cannoli shells were still crispy 9 hours later. Do yourself a favor and get a limoncello cheesecake as well. Dropped some off for other friends and they couldn't resist the deliciousness.
