These guys have been wonderful every time I've emailed or called with questions! My two boys (Pancake and Teddy) are my first pair of ferrets that I rescued. I've only ever had rats in the past and both vets I saw have been very thorough with every and any question I've had!
I moved down to this area in 2021, and it has been a struggle finding a good vet for my pets. I am so grateful that Dr. Tyler was recommended by a friend. He is compassionate and takes his time with the patient. The other staff members that I have met so far are awesome. You can tell they are all genuine animal lovers! If you're looking for a vet, I highly recommend Maple Hills.
My 20 year old son had recently bought a baby bearded dragon. He had it not even a month (the beardie itself was maybe a little over a month old) and it seemed as if it was doing okay, but it wasn’t eating very well. One day my son brought Bob downstairs (that was its name), looking beside himself. Bob looked like a limp noodle in his hand. I told him to call what we thought was a reputable store that we got him from to get advice and we were told to call the vet. I called the one I take my rabbit to, but was informed their reptile vet was booked and was currently out at lunch (at almost 4PM) and wouldn’t be back until 5. She almost wouldn’t consider speaking to me at all because she thought I wasn’t a client until I told her I bring my rabbit there (which will change, believe me). She gave me numbers of various vets to try, which I called the closer ones first. All of them told me their reptile doctor was booked and gave me the name of another vet. One didn’t even go that far… They told me their reptile doctor was booked “and we’re closing anyway”… Very professional… So last on my list, because it was furthest away, was Maple Hill. Unfortunately, their doctor was also booked. I asked if they could please squeeze Bob in as I called so many vets and none could see him but he was terribly sick and I thought he might “you know” (I was trying not to let my son hear that part). She put me on hold, came back in and said the vet could squeeze us in whenever we could get there. I thanked her profusely, gave her the information she needed and we were on our way. The reptile vet (I can’t remember his name at the moment) was incredibly nice as was all the staff. He wasn’t very hopeful for Bob’s future, he didn’t sugar coat that. But my son wanted to try. He gave Bob some fluids and an anti parasitic (in case that was the issue) and my son was given a protein powder to mix up and syringe feed him. Still, the vet wasn’t hopeful that he would survive at that point. But my son won’t give up. He did the syringe feedings for Bob that night (my husband and I helped) but sadly the poor thing passed sometime in the early morning hours. My son was devastated, but he knew it was a possibility, so he was prepared. He asked that I call and inform the vet, which I did to cancel the follow up appointment. The sympathy I received when I said Bob had passed was just so heartfelt… Now, I’ve had a lot of pets and have been to a lot of veterinary hospitals over the years. It’s difficult if not impossible to find one where they still care about your pets as much as you do, where it’s more about the medicine than the money. After what we went through with Bob, I can safely say that Maple Hill is one of those places. My rabbit will be getting a new vet now, if they see rabbits. I highly recommend them, not just for exotic, but all your pets. If it wasn’t such a far drive, I’d take my dogs and cats there, too, but it’s a bit far and carsick dogs on a highway…? Yeah… they need to stay closer to home. Otherwise they’d be going there as would the cats. Amazing staff and the reptile vet was the best. Even the clients were nice! 5 stars all around!
I recently took my cat here, they were so nice and very welcoming. Even though the issue remains with my cat and her issues are happening from an unknown cause, I would bring any animal back here for assistance. The location was nice and neat, no issues at all. Very clean and friendly place. The staff was very nice, especially the vet who assisted us. The overall prices were not as expensive as I would have imagined. I highly recommend this clinic.
What a great staff! Quick scheduling, and the vet was very thorough in explaining what they are capable of handling as a clinic before recommending a specialist. I am also using this vet for boarding my cats and have had great experiences with the staff!
