How anyone could give this place fewer than 5 stars is beyond me. When Dom used to make the pies over at the Avenue J location, the pizzas were beyond my wildest imagination. I've eaten pizza all throughout NY, NJ, CT, and even Naples. I put Dom's pies above them all - it's unreal how amazing those pizzas were. While everyone seems so "in" to pizza these days, it was his pies that got me obsessed with pizza, and nothing has ever compared to date.
That said, this location has carried on his legacy in a fantastic fashion. Are these Dom pies? Honestly, they're very close. So close that they are worth traveling to Staten Island for. They are still the best pizza anywhere, which is saying a lot because there's a lot of great pizza to go around. But - there's more! Everything -the chicken parm, the espresso, the baked clams, the linguine with clams and the meatballs & sausage in gravy were awesome and hard to beat. On Tuesdays they do buy one entree, get one free - which in this economic climate is an unreal deal - and for this quality of food - I challenge you to find a better place to eat.... esp on a tuesday!
Delicious! Quite possibly the best Sicilian pie if ever had. I've been so tired of thick and soggy Sicilian pies and DiFara makes it perfect! It has the perfect crunch to it and it's not so thick. The sauce is so tasty I could just eat that and the crispy crust alone.
We also got a chicken Parm hero that was also delicious and had a great bread to chicken ratio.
This is no doubt better than L&B these days and better than any other pizza shops Sicilian pie. I'll definitely be coming back when I want a Sicilian style pie.
My friends and I ordered and shared a pizza pie, chicken parm and chicken francese entrees. The chicken entrees were on point and not overpowered nor overlysmothered or drenched in their respective sauces.
The pizza pie was amazing. We ordered 1/2 with garlic and the other with mushrooms. The crust was thin and crispy. It was delicious!!
The staff were friendly and attentive. Despite the craziness and crowd, they all were upbeat and always with smiles.
Hats off to all involved at DiFara Pizza - Juicy Lucia!!
