Long Branch Gourmet

Exceptional sandwiches: quality and quantity at the same time. Factor in the original variety offered (which is certainly a growing rarity in the area) and you have the workings of a great little place. The artist (sandwich maker) and purveyor of delectables found here is also openly hospitable and polite... very unlike most places in the north "village" of local infamy!

French ham and brie was my first go around... the ham was moist and soft, dense with the desired pork sharpness. The saltiness was tamed by the creamy brie (not my go to cheese choice normally) without any hint of rind. Mustard came in strong, a nasal opening but refreshing, finishing touch. Definitely a quality grey and not some yellow mustard with vinegar big box mixer.

Muffaletta was my second go around... some purists might complain that it wasn't on the round mushroom cap roll of namesake, but the olive spreads saltiness and sharp brine was tamed by the excellent seeded bread (your choice here). The italian meat shines through, having your taste buds questioning if you're on the Riviera, the shores if the Med', or strolling down Bourbon Street. Try finding this anywhere else in Monmouth County done so well!

As an update and picture included today, I went for the third go around with the brisket and 'slaw. I grew up here, and NY/Jewish style deli meats have always been a root staple. I've always been reluctant to try these away from my established local goto's on this side of the Holland Tunnel... but the downfall of Richards has had me exploring past my comfort zone. Here, as always so far the bread was fantastic, and even after rolling around in my car on the drive home (pickup order!) the bread stood strong with its assumed Brooklyn engineering standards. The brisket was soft and warm, dripping with a french onion slash consume delicateness, with just a tad woodyness from mushroom. The slaw was excellent, definitely an in house blend... and not the standard all mayo slab of white chunky blandness you'll find elsewhere.

3 for 3, looking forward to a 4 for 4 play!

11/2022 update, want to know a secret? They now offer home made burgers and belgian style fries!! Mushrooms sauteed in a cream sauce deliciousness and swiss burger with onion jam that was well caramelized and amazingly, not only did it survive the to go pickup, but I only lost a single mushroom while eating it... he's an architect too apparently!

Eying up his house special burger next that says fried egg, gyuere, chipotle mayo and bacon!!

If you're tired of charcoal Windmill hockey pucks, walk half a block down to this place and get a real burger.

Gourmet grilled cheese... yep they exist. The gouda, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and basil was a fantastic combo!

Work brought me to Long Branch a couple of times and I stopped in for lunch both times. The Number 3 sandwich was so good I got it twice! Both times I visited the staff and owner were a pleasure to deal with. Wish I lived closer!

Stopped by Long Branch Gourmet for the first time this week, and was really impressed! Really excited to make another stop to try out the cheese fries and top picks from the menu.

Dave made his passion for food (and cheese) very clear!! Keep rocking!

Came in here unsure what to expect. The service was absolutely fantastic. They were pleasant to chat with and very helpful with great recommendations and fun banter. Food was fresh and delicious would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great sandwich in the long branch area. Brisket sandwich is 🔥

This place is great! The folks here are friendly and were super helpful with recommendations. Came in on Friday to make the charcuterie board in photo and was back to for a sandwich on Sunday! They have a wide selection of Italian meets, cheeses (even a couple hard to find types), fresh pasta, and desserts. Will definitely be back!
