Larry Wright is a gifted player and an inspiring teacher who is dedicated to leading his students to musical excellence. He is patient, caring, and encouraging, and I look forward to every lesson. His instruction is thorough - covering sound quality, technical facility, phrasing and musicality, and even music theory - although the primary goal is always to make beautiful music. Larry’s outstanding instruction has helped me win a wide variety of auditions ranging from youth orchestras to conservatory admissions. I highly recommend Larry for players of any age looking to improve as musicians.
Larry Wright is a fantastic trumpet teacher. He is patient, thoughtful, and a musical role model who produces students with a strong musical and technical foundation. His school age students are consistently among the best in state festivals and many continue to play through college and to pursue careers in music. His teaching is on par with the best trumpet teachers in Philadelphia and New York. Larry Wright is an inspiring teacher and performer. Guided by his patience, wise teaching I gained a perspective on what it means to be professional. He is diligent, thoughtful, caring, and loved by his students. After studying with Larry, I felt well prepared to study music as profession and continue to use everything that he offered me in my duties with the United States Marine Band, "The President's Own" in Washington, DC. Larry's influence on my trumpet playing and teaching continues to inspire me and I consider myself lucky to know him. Students could expect to learn a balanced diet of technique and perform beautifully on appropriately challenging repertoire. Larry was a wonderful teacher for my son -- always professional and encouraging. He had very high standards, but was never intimidating or overbearing. Making music was the ultimate goal, but Larry also presented a variety of methods for improving technical aspects of trumpet playing. Most importantly, Larry encouraged our son to be his own teacher, and gave him the tools to go off to major in music.
