  My 14 year old was in the grip of an eating disorder and had been through 3 outpatient nutritionists and the in-patient nutritionist before we found Kristin Kwak, MS RD. While we had exceptional medical support, when it comes to eating disorders (in this case anorexia), food is the medicine and it is the source of all fear, anxiety, and chaos for the person struggling and for the family. Kristin created an incredibly safe, supportive, compassionate and nonjudgemental space within which my child could identify and explore issues around food, body, mind, and spirit. Kristin is a gentle guide for the journey of recovery, honoring each person's unique and nonlinear path to hope and healing and life free of disordered thoughts about food, body shape, size, and weight.
  
  Kristin helped my child take small steps that became bigger steps outside their comfort zone with food and meals and eventually with life experiences. She helped my child unravel from the grip of the ED; now, my child is involved in life again--a teenage life that is filled with possibility in school, in sports, and in new ways of thinking, feeling, and becoming. Yes...all of this because Kristin helped my child transform their relationship with food and their body.
  
  No two client stories will be the same; it is a sad truth about eating disorders. The readiness to change, to trust, to let go of the false safety of the ED comes to each person in a different way and on no set schedule.There were times when our family thought it would never come. I truly believe that Kristin helps her clients prepare for that moment of readiness and when it arrives, she helps them find their voice, find their strength, and find their way to recovery on their own terms.
