Excellent PT after knee replacement surgery. Everyone, especially Dawn was wonderfully helpful.
If I could give a 10 star review, I would. Initially, I chose Ivy due to the proximity to my home. After coming for PT, on several occasions, I now know that I would travel to see them, regardless if distance.
The atmosphere is friendly, caring, and professional. I am not easily impressed, but they exceeded any and all of my expectations. Trust me, I set the bar high and they cleared it…big time.
Fannya and her staff are the perfect blend of expertise and experience. Did I mention that I am not easily impressed? Yet, here I am…IMPRESSED!!!!
This is the first time I experienced PT with a warm and caring team. They educate you on why each exercise is important to getting you back or close to your baseline of activity and genuinely care about your success. You, as a patient, interact with every Ivy Rehab Claymont team member. I had never experienced that before. Because of the before mentioned and their expertise, I actually enjoyed my PT and completed the program. I strongly suggest, if you need PT, go to Ivy Rehab Claymont. They are truly a great group of people who truly care about you as a person.
While 4 seems low it is impossible to give a full 5 stars.
5 stars
Intake and evaluation. The court of therapy began with a thorough exploration of responses to various treaatment.
Unfortunately the patient experienced pain level of 7 under some motions. The patient sought medical amelioration. A plausible treatment was tried but did not relieve symptoms.
1 star One session was given to a therapist who had no experience with the patient. A quick jerk of the arm immediate led to a sharp pain of ~8 level. The therapist also suggested an exercise which if the patient had been able to do they would not be need the physical therapy.
4 stars Neck brace
A neck brace was recommended. A local supplier was unable to provide one and recommended a standard model. While this was consider OK at Ivy, the patient raised an objection. The patient consulted with another medical professional. They did not think the patient's concern was serious they did find another possible problem from the use of the brace. Professionals at a hospital in Philadelphia found the brace inadequate in their work on AlS patients. Attempts at improvement were on hold.
Ivy never asked further about these findings.
Another medical treatment relieved the pian and therapy continued with Ryan.
5 Treatment with Ryan
Ryan was excellent at explaining each exercise and making sure that it wa being done satisfactorily. He adopted a whole body approach that could help with the major problem. The program was systematic although some of the steps did not appear fully ordered (timing and choice of weights).
Ryan indicated repeatedly that progress would be slow.
4 The promise of slow progress continued until a week before termination. With no forewarning, Ryan said that functionality could not be achieve and physical therapy was terminated (by health insurance). An overview of exercises with videos for home use was not received.

4 Communication with patient.
I highly recommend Ivy Rehab to anyone requiring physical therapy after an injury. They communicate very well and are extremely accomodating. They also take their time and inform you about the injury you have suffered, the treatment plan necessary for rehabilitation, and continuous updates on your improvement. Their approach to physical therapy is thorough, sincere, and extremely beneficial to those require short or long term care. Thank you Ivy Rehab for getting me back to optimal health.
