  Big THANK YOU to Nick and staff at Tolland.
  Started PT for hip problem in Nov. twice weekly sessions till now have made a big improvement. Courteous, friendly and professional group there. Most of my treatments were by Nick with Eddie assisting.
  I am very satisfied with the treatment and the improvement since they began working with me. Discharged today with lots of materials that will help me follow the regimen that began two months ago.

  I've used them a few times over the years and had great results. Even eliminated a surgery on my shoulder. This is not a personal doctor visit, it's more like a gym and they work as a team to push you to stretch and strengthen muscles to eliminate pain. You have to do the home exercises to recover quickly. Ruben was my therapist, and I would recommend him to anyone.

  I had never done physical therapy, but because I'd really wrecked my back, therapy was prescribed for me. On the advice of several other people in town, I went to Integrated Rehab.
  
  My initial confidence in them was low. I got marginally better, but things progressed very, very slowly. At times, I wondered if they knew what they were doing. My therapist seemed inexperienced. My back questioned her ability to heal it. She was telling me to do things that didn't make much sense. I mean, why isn't she treating the pain in my leg? Why is she treating my back?
  
  But I'm also one who is used to a quick fix. I've never had a long-term anything, even the big surgeries I've had in my life had very fast recoveries. So my expectations were unrealistic. I'm also an engineer, so you're going to have to explain "all the things" to me in order for me to believe that you're doing the right thing.
  
  The good news is that she got used to explaining things to me more than she might explain to others, and that she had the good sense to consult another therapist to reassure both of us that she was, indeed, doing the right things. (I *really* messed up my back, so the glacially-slow progress tripped her up, too.)
  
  The bad news is that therapy is what you make of it. If you are given a set of exercises which cause you pain and pain is what's supposed to happen, then you're only going to get better if you endure the pain. Whine and complain all you want—they've heard it all—but do the exercises and you'll at least have a chance at recovery.
  
  Concerned about personal attention? I've never been to another physical therapist, though from what I've seen, this is how they all work: you get a private first consult, and then you're thrown into the mix with the rest of the patients. After all, much of the time spent in PT is doing 10 sets of 10 reps or something like that, and that doesn't require babysitting once you're off and running.
  
  Can I unequivocally state that you'll get the attention level you want? No. In fact, I can almost guarantee that you *won't* get the attention level that you want. But will you get the attention level that you need? In all likelihood, yes. Can you have fun while you're in pain? Strangely, yes. They do a great job of keeping the atmosphere light, and that's why I push this review to the 5-star level instead of the 4-star level. Nice people, friendly atmosphere... but it is what you put into it.
  
  Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some exercises to go do... because I messed up my back again... because I didn't follow through with my exercises... may my therapist forgive me.
