(July 23, 2023, 10:22 pm)I visit this place almost weekly for recreational walking and for a time, I attempted to fish. Alas, I am not a good enough angler to fish with natural bait, let alone the artificial bait required on this Class A trout stream. Regardless, this park is beautiful. I know some folks may see the tall weeds near the water's edge and think that it is unsightly, but please know that this is for the betterment of the waterways. The environmental experts have said that having tall weeds near the water's edge helps with filtration of all kinds of unnatural items from the already compromised water. The dam is already such an impediment on the waterway that I don't want to see it taken away, so I'd rather see the weeds and get to keep my beloved dam.
This park is a restored WPA beauty. Do marvel at the beautiful dam and imagine that upstream from that dam was actually a stream-fed swimming pool that people used to use. It apparently filled up with silt so quickly that they abandoned its use, but that's why the waterway is so bowled above the dam - there's concrete below in some areas. In general, the city does a great job keeping up with the park. Also, please, if you're going to feed the fish or the ducks/geese, don't feed them bread. Buy duck feed. (Tractor Supply, 15 lbs. for $19.99). Bread is harmful to the birds.

(August 1, 2022, 9:08 pm)Great spot for picnicking and a shady stroll along the stream with our dog.There are full restrooms, parking and you can reserve the ramada pavillions for group gatherings. The waterfall and bridge, a short walk from the parking area, are highlights.
