Great day of kayaking! I had to change my first reservation because I threw my back out. Cancelled the morning of reservation. Hudson River Recreation was very accommodating. Although they would not refund my money they gave me a full credit to use at another time. Good experience. Will definitely do again.
Nice and friendly staff. I am hoping to see sit-in sea kayaks or kayaks with rudder in the future at Rye location. Kayaking was enjoyable.
Had a wonderful time kayaking on the Long Island Sound at Rye Beach. So much fun! The staff is helpful and provides all the equipment you need. I will definitely return!
The staff was very helpful in getting our Kayak into the water and off the beach. They gave some great tips on oar use (It was 20 years since I last boated!) and they were very friendly. They were great with check-in and had plenty of boats, oars, and vests (with whistles) available for us. You can see the beach/Rye Playland right next door too.
I've visited the other Hudson River Recreation locations and saved this one for last. Started out on Tarrytown Lake which is quaint, moved up to Croton Point which was a richer experience due to bigger area, and then got up the nerve to visit Rye Beach which allows one to cover more area but also has the element of stronger currents and more obstacles to navigate (rock outcrops). I loved it! The Sound is a beautiful iconic location and it was a great way to start my Sunday morning. The equipment is in great condition and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Totally recommend the company, locations and experience in general.
