  It was a great surprise! I will be a repeat customer! It was right by Times Square which was concerning, but it's also just off to the side with a bunch of restaurants right outside the door. It was very very quiet. I found I had plenty of room. I don't think you'll get a view in this hotel, but I don't think you book it expecting that. This place is a personal favorite for NYC. The room was very comfortable, very clean, and I have absolutely no complaints. I can't recommend it more highly.

  We stayed in Hotel Scherman for a week in August 2022.
  We are a family of 4 with two boys 16 and 20 years old.
  We had booked the penthouse suite and it was perfect!
  Great location and more importantly a great little private rooftop terrace where we could have drinks and play games in the evening.
  If anything it could do with a second toilet, but it was not a problem for us

  We stayed with Hotel Scherman for a couple of nights and it was a wonderful experience overall. All staff was very kind and helpful. The room was nice and clean. Unfortunately, due to the bar, it can be pretty loud on the weekend until late into the night. However, due to the AC noise, it was still okay for sleeping. The roof terrace is awesome for eating takeaway meals. The location of the hotel is also really nice for sight seeing!

  My wife and I stayed here in order to see a show and hang out in NYC. This hotel is on a block with several restaurants that all seemed to be active, and was only a block and a half from Broadway, but you wouldn't have known it once inside the building. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They held our bags prior to check in and post checkout so that we could maximize our time in the city.
  
  The room was impeccably clean, and while we had always heard that as a rule New York hotel rooms were very small, we found this to be plenty of space, and even comparable to large rooms we have stayed in elsewhere. The bed was very comfortable (I need to find those pillows)!
  
  The hotel itself shares staircases with the restaurant Tito Murphys, which was active in the evening but was not audible from our room. Their upper floor is also used for the continental breakfast of the hotel. The breakfast selection was varied and delicious, and the staff there was once again friendly and attentive.
  
  At the top of the building is a lovely rooftop area, the shape of which allows guests to branch off into sections and feel spread out. The first time we went up we and another family were both up there and were able to have entire sections to ourselves, and when we went up again after breakfast we were alone. It has open views on one side and looking down to the right you can see the beginning of the active times square area.
  
  Overall, this was an excellent choice. It was near the action and convenient, but felt tucked away. Everyone in the building and in the businesses around it were friendly and helpful, and the hotel accommodations themselves were excellent. If we intend to stay in this area of the city again this will most certainly be the first place we look to book.

  I had a wonderful stay. They let me check in early and the room was spacious with a small terrace to look at restaurants below. There was live music nightly from the restaurant below but that didn’t bother me. Location is great, I even walked from Penn station to this hotel with my bags. So many great restaurants in the area as well. Room has a fridge and microwave. And water pressure in the shower was great! I didn’t try the breakfast that was provided. I did check out the rooftop terrace which was only for guests which had a decent view.
