  Our vessel was anchored just across this Monastery. It was such a great view to see this building away from the busy city. The area is very quiet and peaceful. We never had the chance to visit this. Though I suppose going inside has a much better scenery.

  Holy Cross Monastery is my soul's spa. Peaceful, welcoming, reverent without being "preachy". Wonderful views of the Hudson River, lots of grounds for wandering or meditating, and wonderful food. A very blessed pace for getting quiet and listening for your inner guide's wisdom.

  Many of the visitors give rave reviews about Holy Cross.
  However, it is unfair for Holy Cross to determine the taxi fare amount on their website under directions and maps. Based on the website, the fare has been the same for more than seven years. Taxi companies determine their own fares based on their cost and economic wellness. One business should not tell another business how much money it can make. I always tip taxi drivers becuase I know they don’t make a lot of money and these are hard economic times for them.

  I have been going up to Holy Cross Monastery now for almost ten years. The accommodations are modest and yet, quite comfortable. The food is excellent! The experience of praying the hours with the monks is simply heavenly and provides an opportunity to reconnect with God in a much deeper and authentic way. The monks are welcoming, down to earth and good listeners. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful no matter the time of year!
