A warm, welcoming, all inclusive environment. The Hebrew school principal is fantastic, the Rabbi is thoughtful and innovative and the congregants are lovely. We feel lucky to be raising our children as part of the HCS family.
I have never had the privilege and joy of being a part of such a wonderful, welcoming congregation. The Rabbi is just lovely and extremely knowledgeable. The Cantor is so passionate and sings so beautifully that you can feel the prayers--the best I've ever seen. The people really care about each other. And I can attest--from first-hand experience--that this congregation really does welcome EVERYONE. An all-around wonderful synagogue and community!
Hebrew Congregation of Somers is a wonderfully welcoming Reconstructionist synagogue. The rabbi and cantor are excellent spiritual leaders. Services are high quality with a good mix of English and Hebrew. The education for adults and children is top notch. The community is very sociable and open to all.
Hebrew Congregation of Somers is a warm, friendly, welcoming synagogue. My husband and I have been members for 22 years and never considered going elsewhere. I've made many good friends at our temple. Services are wonderful - mixture of Hebrew and English, lots of music and warmth. Saturday services are followed by a lively discussion of the week's Torah portion - always with a Kiddush lunch. And we love Friday night services, which are followed by a potluck dinner. Our children received a great Jewish education at the temple's Hebrew School.
A small, very friendly Reconstructionist synagogue. Services are in Hebrew with some English readings. Lunch 'n' learn afterward is an informal discussion over bagels and cream cheese of the week's Torah portion. Once a month there are pot luck suppers on Friday nights, preceding services.
