I went to a meeting there. The Porcelain Painters of Southern New Jersey is an educational group that teaches techniques of painting on porcelain. It fosters the appreciation of painted porcelain. We have demonstrations and workshops by local, national and internationally recognized artists. The Library has given us the opportunity to use their facility to learn and share this beautiful art.
Parents...PLEASE take your screaming children HOME! This library is NOT quiet. Very noisy. More like a community center. If you're looking for a place to study, this is NOT the place. Otherwise it's an ok library.
This is a review of the MakerStudio@GCLS, which is located in a room next to the computer lab. Offers a variety of services aimed to help educate the community. If you are looking to learn something new as a hobby, this is the place. Their team takes the initiative to make sure your dream comes to fruition, in a hands on approach. Truly a remarkable place, team, and services!
I attended a an art class here the other evening. The instructor was very soft spoken and not very direct if we were copying her scene of creating our own. She made one walk through of the "class" during the hour. She offered help if requested but did not make any suggestions during her one walk through. It was still a very nice class and you were able to get help if you needed/wanted it.
After the course I did spend some time in the library itself. It is well stocked with more than enough areas for studying and quite. There are multiple common areas for study and though some where in use, it was still very quiet.
The spoke with two staff members while I was there (the facilitator for the class and a librarian) and they were both friendly and eager to assist.
