This is one of a very very few places who do it right.
One month programs are largely useless, and the relapse rate here speaks for itself.
And it is free!
And, oh yes, understand that one star ratings here come from the kids, that just started the program. It takes at least half a year to turn them around, and not everybody will make it.
Our family is incredibly grateful for DYC. We brought our son there 3 1/2 years ago. He was a broken, addicted person who had been to two previous detoxes & one 30 day program with no success. Fast forward to today, he is 24 years old, living in an apartment in Brooklyn, attending school for refrigeration & working full time. He has a support system of sober members and dedicated staff who are there for him. We could not have imagined his life today when this journey began. We have benefited greatly as a family with the support of the outstanding staff in Fallsburg and Brooklyn & the family groups. We will be eternally grateful this Thanksgiving & always to the DYC program! 50 years of saving lives! So grateful!
DYC... It's hard to find the words really.
I think the best thing they did was for ME. I was given the opportunity to look at MYSELF and MY behaviors. You know it's very easy to sit back and blame the addict for their lack of will or their weakness or their selfishness. It's not always easy to look at yourself.
You cannot change another person's behavior. But oftentimes by changing YOURS you can change how they respond and react.
DYC taught me so much. DYC will forever hold a huge place in my heart and in my life. I am forever indebted.

Our son has been at DYC for nearly 7 months. He is doing well. An addict needs time. Time to recover, heal and develop a tool box they can go to when the return to the real world. DYC focuses on individual and group sessions along with providing academic opportunities along with an infrastructure where residents take on work party responsibilities and leadership roles. The staff balances support and care with accountability and responsibility from the residents. Trust, honesty, self - resilience, hard work, courage, empathy and compassion are part of their approach and philosophy. Along with tough love our son is developing into a quality human being who is understanding his choices impact himself and others. DYC is a diamond in the rough that has given our son hope for a better life and peace to our family. We are incredibly grateful.
DYC is an incredible community of determent young people to break free from the grip of drug addiction. These boys and girls have chosen the right path to change their life for good. The journey to cure isn’t easy nor short. It takes time and resources of the professionals councils to steer youngster minds away from drugs. DYC stuff created amazing atmosphere of comradeship within campus making everybody feel like brothers and sisters even for visitors. Great job DYC we need you!
