  This is the 5th year that Jim has been teaching our son to play drums.
  Jim consistently delivers as a teacher with his patience, kindness and high standards which are impressive. Jim takes great pride in his craft making sure each student continues to solidly learn and practice the fundamentals which are needed to become a better musician; no shortcuts will be taken here. Jim is a wonderful person and teacher.

  Jimmy Lane offers drum lessons that provide both structured instruction and a creative outlet for my son. Jimmy's studio is outfitted with a variety of percussive and other instruments which, combined with Jimmy's encouragement and flexibility, offers the student with varied interests the opportunity to experiment and keep things interesting. Jimmy is a teacher, coach and mentor all at once. He is encouraging and always so positive that my son leaves each lesson with a feeling of pride and accomplishment. Your child will want to keep coming back if they get drum lessons from Jimmy. Why? Because ultimately Jimmy's lessons are engaging and fun, which is frankly 80% of the battle in getting kids to stick with something. I can't recommend Jimmy enough to anyone whose child may have an interest in drums (or music for that matter).

  Jim is an excellent drum teacher. My son has studied with him for almost a year and I have sat in on every lesson. Jim creates a positive atmosphere where my son feels safe to learn. He encourages excellence in musicianship by instilling a respect for the instrument and the need for regular practice. But most of all, my son learns and has fun. We have had music lessons elsewhere in Westport and in NYC and he is by far the best teacher we have had. We highly recommend Jim and his studio.

  If you are looking for drum lessons in the fairfield county area, look no further. Jimmy Lane could not have helped me progress more as a drummer and as a student of music. Starting in 3rd grade with no experience whatsoever, he helped me become an avid drummer and 3 time western regional percussionist. He helped me learn jazz, r&b, and rock. Whatever it is you want to learn, he can teach you. Jim will customize his teaching to help you as an individual whether you are a beginner or advanced percussionist. I have too many great things to say about Jim, give him a try and you will not be disappointed. He will not only be one of the best teachers you have ever had, but also a great mentor.

  Been taking drum lessons with Jim for a number of years now.. a real kindred spirit who knows his stuff & has impressive patience for a wide range of client ages, personalities, and skill levels. He's both able and willing to help each student become the musician they want to be. Nice studio setup with pro-level gear and many teaching tools from over the years. Would highly recommend over other lesson outlets in & around town, especially for the self-motivated player; you get out what you put in.
