  Really enjoyed the history. There is a nice trail, a creek, geocaching, and fishing.
  
  Our dog enjoyed cooling down in the water.

  Great little historic site with some interesting information and lovely little riverside trails. Good for walking your dog or taking in nature with the family. They've got a canal festival in August I am planning on attending. Be sure to have good footwear as it can get muddy when it rains.

  Great place for a walk, start in the parking lot, walk along the river, through the woods and back along the river. You can walk from the Lock House all the way to Settler's Inn in Hawley. There is a new pavilion and a canal boat cabin diorama to explain what life was like on a canal. Call the Wayne County Historical Society if you would like to rent the pavilion for an event. The trail terrain is mostly flat, but wear sturdy shoes, and check for ticks (in season) when your done. There is an annual canal festival during August each year, and it is a great way to see the house, learn much more of the history of the building and the land. Much wildlife to see and if you are lucky, you can see The Stourbridge Line train while you walk along the river trail. Many interesting signs filled with facts and information about the site. This is a great place to be with nature, in any season.

  A easy and enjoyable short trail. At the start, you can immerse yourself in a bit of history of the Canal.
  I put in about 2.1 miles. To the left of the historic house is a trail that goes approximately a half mile and ends with a no trespass sign. I recommend it as it is a well maintained and beautiful little walk. Lots of birds and saw a family of beaver. Strong smell of the wildflowers were intoxicating. There is the constant sound of the nearby river which is a big plus. Unfortunately there is also the sound of the constant traffic flow of Sr6 going east towards Hawley, Pa. No big deal here, but others may not like this.
  There is also another well maintained river trail. Short but very nice. A few benches along the way and rather tranquil. The trail loops around to the beginning.
  A great little trail!!
  Update@#$ since Covid 19 is around, thought I'd let people know that most people on this trail were practicing social distancing and put masks on when people approached...a stark contrast to walking about Honesdale were masks were not seen. Still a decent trail with some repairs going on near the house.
