As a colleague of Dr. Leone, I know him to be a rare find in our field. He's one of the few clinicians I know who approaches the treatment of substance abuse through a Harm Reduction Model instead of the outdated and ineffective abstinence-based ones. He demonstrates compassion by meeting each client where they are at and helps to root out and treat the WHYs of substance abuse, instead of focusing only on eliminating the behaviors themselves (which tends to scare and shame people).
