    Easily accessible short walk to common. If you continue past common, road will lead to Hardwick fishing boat launch.

    Gate 40 is one of my favorite Quabbin Reservoir hikes.

    The trails at Gate 40 at The Quabbin are open and clear for foot and bike travel. The beautiful views overlooking the water are well worth the hike. It's about 5 miles if you decide to visit all the foundations before heading back.

    Decent amount of parking, large road way, some washed out but have been repaired. Road our mountain bikes to the fishing area. On and off tar and areas of loose gravel. A few porta potties along the way.

    Paved road...beautiful meadows and woods on either side of this road. Its very quiet and peaceful here. The road is approximately 1.7 miles that leads to the now extinct Town of Dana Center. Old cellar holes can be seen and a sad ghostly feeling seems to pervade the place as you read the plaques and postings that talk about what once was.
