  Mark is an amazing instructor. He is very patient and detailed oriented with my daughter. Her 30 minute lessons are productive and organized and he cares about her being comfortable.

  Mark is not only a great guitar player and instructor but he is a great person. He has all of the special qualities to teach you how to play the guitar. If you have that burning desire to learn, call him! I am 62 and starting from scratch. He has the patience of a saint and is so calming and inspirational. 10 stars!

  I have been taking lessons with Mark for almost 10 years. Beginning with almost no experience at a young age, I did not know what to expect at all when I first took a lesson but it was clear from the first day that I had found someone who would be able to pass on a great deal of knowledge about music in a way that would be accessible from my own perspective. On top of that he was and is probably the nicest person I have ever met, so it is no wonder I stuck with it for so long. Over the years I met many of Mark’s other students who were from every age range and skill level imaginable, and I was struck by his ability to give 100% with each individual to provide them with the guidance they need to excel at guitar.
  My first few years of lessons consisted of learning about various areas of guitar playing via the transcribing of countless rock songs (both my own choices and songs suggested by Mark). As my skill level increased and I no longer needed a teacher to show me how to play specific songs, the format of my lessons evolved to focus more on music theory and advanced guitar techniques. This approach allowed me to grow as a musician and constantly face new challenges to contribute to my knowledge and ability.
  At the time when i met him Mark was the most talented guitarist and most musically knowledgeable person I had ever met, and in my years of pursuing a career in music, playing in bands and seeking every opportunity to expand my own knowledge, that fact has not changed. Today I am a dedicated guitarist studying for a degree in music and aspiring to either perform or produce music for the rest of my life. There is no doubt whatsoever that Mark was the most important influence that led me to choose this path, and he was fundamental in giving me the skills and knowledge I needed to excel in the field of music. For any and all people seeking to improve their guitar skills or even pick it up for the first time, there is no one better to guide you than Mark Chmiel.

  I've been taking lessons with Mark for about half a year now. Mark is to put it simply, your favorite teacher in high school. He's a fun interesting guy, and that in no way gets in the way of what he's trying to teach you. He's also remarkably flexible and understand when it comes to scheduling, I've never had to miss a weekly lesson even when scheduling conflicts arise. I'd tell anyone looking to learn guitar to seek out Mark

  I have been taking lessons from Mark for 2 years. He is an extremely talented musician who has an unbelievable way of teaching guitar and music theory that just makes sense. As a Berklee School of Music grad, and with an already accomplished career of writing, composing and playing, he is able to teach at all levels. Additionally, his prices are very reasonable and much less than what you would pay a teacher renting space in one of the big guitar centers. The cost for an hour lesson is comparable to 30 minutes elsewhere. I can't recommend him highly enough for anyone who wants to learn rock, jazz, blues guitar.
