Never thought I would find such a warm and welcoming congregation. The new Rabbi has a wonderful voice, and I found myself joining in almost immediately. His sermons are so profound, relevant, and meaningful. Everyone there was so warm and friendly. The High Holidays were so beautifully done, even though we all were zooming in. It was amazing and inspiring! If you are like me, and are looking for a place to belong and feel a part of something very special, then CBI is where you should come. You will not be disappointed!
On a quiet street nestled in between the Garden City Hotel and Hempstead Turnpike is a hidden gem of a congregation known as Beth Israel. I have been a generally non-participating member who has attended a few events and the high holidays. The congregation is small with a core of dedicated worshipers. It is very accepting of all levels of knowledge of Judaism and religion. This i important to me as I have limited ability to read Hebrew. Many of the prayers are transliterated and there are lots of “we are on page—“ references to help. All levels of knowledge of Judaism will feel comfortable here. Weekly service are held and available on Zoom.
I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful and inspirational the Rabbi is. You have to directly experience his quiet wisdom and acceptance of all types of people to understand it. If you need help or guidance he is there for you, and he can make you feel like you are his only congregant, giving you his full attention. I’m happy to be a member of this proud and wonderful congregation.
What a wonderful place. The perfect combination of traditional and modern at the same time. Apparently it was once conservative but now leans towards renewal with a wonderful new Rabbi. Rabbi Abe and the congregation are so welcoming!
