Myself and members of our prayer group went to bring a Christmas program to the residence. From the receptionist at the door to the activities director, everyone was cordial and quite welcoming.,k
On behalf of our Daughter and Family, I wanted to say the care and compassion shown by the Nurses and Staff of Inglemoor was outstanding. They attended to my better half, Carol during her time in Hospice Care and made sure was was comfortable and not in pain as she passed peacefully. It takes a special kind of people for this job, and they were truly the best. Thank You on behalf of the Kamboorian and Palladino Families.❤️
The staff is very nice and friendly. Derah is great! She is very knowledgeable and helpful. Margaret and Brigetta are very caring. Glad my aunt is there.
My sister is currently staying there. Everyone I've met has been kind, caring, and very patient. Derah and the team at Inglemoor were extremely supportive in getting my sister the Medicaid coverage she needed. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking great care for their family members.
My mother is 91. She has stayed at Inglemoor Center 5 years ago, 2 years ago and currently. All three times were due to falls that broke both hips( at different times) or leg fractures In all 3 cases she was there because after surgery she had to learn to walk, first to sit, then to be taken downstairs for physical therapy. Slowly over the course of about a month she was able to be released as she could at least walk with a walker.
There is good and not so good here. Lets start with the good. The staff for the most part are great. They are caring, attentive, and well trained in physical therapy and or nursing. This 3rd visit, the food according to my mother has improved 10 fold. She is an active 91 yr old who still lives on her own and cooks 3 meals a day, does her own local driving, and goes and does exercise class at the señor center 2x a week( when she is not breaking something that is). She is a rock star as many would agree. So she although not too fussy is sensitive to seriously bad food and the first 2 visits it was exactly that. Now this visit has been a huge improvement which she is very satisfied with.
The center is conveniently located from Manhattan which is where I live, so getting there is quick and easy. The area around the center is pretty tree lined streets as well. So all in all with someone like my mother who is motivated and wants to return to normal life, this place is paramount in helping her achieve this. There are many other positive things but I believe I covered the important ones. Oh and the place is pretty clean all in all.
The not so good. Not sure how these centers make there money but have to assume its mostly medicare. The center looks run down.My mother's room is in desperate need of painting. The place could be renovated. It's kind of depressing. It is also a small señor citizen home as well as a rehab center. It is depressing and dreary. They have a small outside area that we can wheel our loved ones out to for fresh air in better weather. Here is a missed opportunity. The seating and outdoor furniture is old and limited. No real landscaping to speak of. With little effort or even major funds that area could look much better and it would be more motivating for residents and patients. This visit (although this is on the Dr's mostly) my mothers pain was not managed well for the first 2 weeks. Somehow when she arrived 3 weeks ago today there was no medication order either from the hospital where she got surgery or somehow it was lost in translation. Nevertheless my poor 91 yr old mom after getting a rod shoved into her bone only days earlier was in major pain. It was sorted out.
For the next 2 weeks my mothers pain was still bad from time to time and they tried increasing her Advil along with pain meds but it just was not doing it. I am not sure the nurses were good at communicating that to the doctor. The point is it wasn't until this week ( week three) that her pain actually is well managed and everyone is on the same page. I will emphasize again this is not necessarily the centers fault entirely, but I need to mention it because she is there and they should be on top of their game. In there defense (I can be objective sometimes) my mother is not great at communicating when she is in great pain until its too late. So it's a perfect storm btwn her pathology, the center and the doctors.
While on the subject of Dr's. Once you are in there, your own doctor can not treat you.You are under the care of the facilities Dr and although a lovely woman, she is not around as much as previous visits. I would hope that is due to being busy, however the center is the same size it always was, so I am not sure why this is. The good news is that my mother is not in constant need of the doctor now that the pain meds are regulated and is slowly improving daily.
It sounds like I am being very critical of the center, while it has its issues, they have taken very good care of my mom all 3 times even with the hiccups this time around. Hey she's eating well too.
