  The children’s department is outstanding! So many kids activities and programs.

  Excellent service on front end and adult section of library. However, today I had a not so pleasant experience with a woman in the children’s section when I asked for my son’s library card number as I had forgotten the card in the car and he wanted to use the computer. She then loudly and aggressively verbalized that he could use a guest pass. Which is fine but in the past if i’ve forgotten a card, as a patron of the library I supplied my id and was provided my information in return. I was told that it was a violation of privacy to ask for such a thing and made to feel as though I was doing something illegal. She was also not very friendly to us at all. I could be wrong but what i discerned from her energy was that she did not want us there.

  The Center Moriches Library has become my favorite place in town to visit! All of the Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, the selection of movies, books, and music is diverse and expansive; and the addition of the Hampton Cafe is the cherry on top of this fantastic place! Can't recommend this place enough.

  I stopped by the Center Moriches Public Library while visiting the area in late October. Having worked in a library in the past I like to visit different libraries during my travels. I was very impressed with the library especially with the children’s area. They have a great selection of books and programs for the children and the staff was very polite.

About the Library - Center Moriches Free Public Library

The Center Moriches Free Public Library was started in 1921 in a room over the truck house (the site of the present day firehouse). It was moved to the Goldsmith building in 1923, to the women's club building in 1930, and in September 1957 to the building at 529 Main St which is now used for Administration of the Center Moriches School District.
