  When my daughter was nine years old, she had a weight issue. It was something I couldn’t fix at home and I didn’t know how to handle it.
  
  I spent months researching weight loss camps, other locations, trying to figure out all of my options. Ultimately, after speaking numerous times with the staff at Camp Shane, I ended up making one of the hardest decisions of my life as a mother – sending my daughter over 1000 miles away from home to attend Camp Shane for 6 weeks.
  
  When I saw my daughter after her time at Camp Shane, I realized this was actually the BEST decision of my life. My daughter lost more than the average weight they advertise – over 30 lbs in 6 weeks! She was completely transformed not only physically, but emotionally. She was happy, healthy and more confident than I had ever seen her.
  
  Last year, I sent my daughter back to Camp Shane – this time to the Florida location. She expressed an interest in strengthening her skills and re-teaching herself some of the healthy habits she learned at Camp Shane. It’s safe to say that she had the same amazing summer camp experience.
  
  Pick up at the end of the summer was so emotional for everyone. My daughter, her best friend, other campers, the counselors and myself were all crying. When you send your child to Camp Shane they’ll gain friends for life, not only in their peers, but their counselors and the staff as well.
  
  I can’t say this enough, Camp Shane was the best decision I made, years ago and still to this day.

  My son attended Camp Shane NY this past summer (2016) and had an amazing time. Besides losing over 50lbs he made some great friends and memories that will last a lifetime. As with all sleep away camps there will be issues of home sickness and or noting getting along with some of his bunk mates all were solved via telephone with the staff. The Staff at Camp Shane were great along with the Nurse who needed to give my son weekly shots. All done without issue. Looking forward to the summer of 2017!

  I attended Shane this past summer. It was the best decision I've made in a long time. I weighed 196 lbs, the closest to 200 I had ever been. I was near the point of giving up, of not caring. But a friend suggested I go to a weight loss center. I took her advice and began my online research. The one that I was drawn to was Shane Diet Resort in New York. They promised a 3-prong approach: diet, exercise, and behavior modification. It worked! I lost 14 lbs while there for a month-long stay, but more importantly I changed my mind-set about dieting and exercising. I discovered that I am not a food addict. I can say no to extra food and yes to exercise. I now eat half portions of whatever I am served or serve myself, and I have joined a gym so that I can attend classes. When I had gone to the gym on my own, I worked at half speed, getting minimal results. Now, I attend a spinning class, a body pump class, yoga class, and push myself walking/running or any cardio exercise with High Intensive Interval Training. I have lost an additional 10 lbs since I've been home. My life has changed drastically. Every day is a new adventure. I can't say enough good things about Shane. Give yourself a chance to start living again.

  I have gone to Camp Shane NY for two summers now, and cannot be happier with my experience there. There are many positive aspects to going to Camp Shane. The best is by far the confidence and self-esteem that the campers gain while they are there. Over the course of the nine-week summer, the campers go to the camp initially to meet their weight lose goals, but in actuality get a boost in self-confidence. They bring this confidence home and back to a new year of school.
  Not only do the campers have a great time because they are losing weight, but because they are supported, pushed and loved by their counselors. The staff at Camp Shane is helpful and caring. From the friendly staff in the office, to the maintenance and kitchen staff, there is always a helping hand around. However, what makes Camp Shane truly great are the general counselors. Their jobs include bringing the campers from activity to activity and motivating their campers. From the relationships they form with the campers and the spark in their personalities, these counselors truly have a spark to them that makes the campers want to work hard to shed the pounds. Many of the general counselors were campers in the past that are back to help kids do what they did while going to camp in previous years. There are also returning counselors who loved camp and loved seeing the change from their campers.
  Going to Camp Shane is not just like going to your typical day camp or sleep away camp. Over the course of the summer, you become so close to everybody there. Camp becomes your second home. You make friends that you stay in touch with year after year. I do not recommend camp just because it is a great place to lose weight and feel good about yourself, but because of the lifelong friends and memories you will make at Camp Shane.
