  BCAF offers fantastic instruction for any age. I began with the Taste of Fencing course in early February 2022 and was immediately hooked, in large part due to the welcoming environment and exceptional coaching. I am 41 had no experience fencing other than a college course for credit 20+ years ago. The coaches take time not only to refine technique, but also to explain the reasoning behind the movements and methods. I would recommend BCAF to anyone looking to learn a new sport and get a good work out regardless of age.

  My daughter got bit by the fencing bug 7 years ago after seeing it on PBS KIDS. We found BCAF and the rest is history. It wasn't long after she started, that I gave it a try (in my mid 40's then), then my wife, then my younger daughter once she turned 8. I found it to be a great sport where you can compete at any age and against any age opponent. There's a great combination of physical prowess, mental alertness and planning that other activities last. "Physical chess" is the best in a nutshell description I've heard for it. As an older fencer new to the sport, pay attention to those warm ups and don't neglect a cool down either. You can do it! You'll likely need more preparation than a twelve year old. The instructional staff has always been supportive and helpful. Besides lessons, they're there to discuss the finer points of technique, equipment and equipment maintenance. Between bouts or after a lesson there's a great group of people to mix with. Great sport for everybody from 8 to 80 plus! By the time you've finished an introductory program, "Taste of Fencing" you'll have a good idea what it's about and if you want to take the next step.

  Fencing is not just for kids! I am in my mid 50's and rediscovered fencing when my kid wanted to try it 10 years back. Used to do this in High School and now just couldn't stand sitting on the side lines. There have been quite a few "Daddy-Daughter" (and "Mother-Son") student combo's coming through my classes. I just like playing with swords and having a great, full-execise option that's fun to do...and folks are doing this competitively even into their 70's! I want to be that old guy giving the teens a run for their money on the fencing strip when I'm 70! This is a sport that rewards wit and thinking just as much as athleticism. The club is very welcoming and very support at all levels. Highly recommend to anyone even curious

  Fencing is a great sport for any age, and as someone who took it up as adult I can say it's great. It's like playing chess, getting a workout and playing whack-a-mole all at once. After an hour at it, you'll think two things: that was a real workout, and that was a lot of fun!
  
  Admit it - you've always wanted to try fencing. The good news is that it's easy to get started. The team at Bucks County Academy of Fencing make this a very approachable sport and help generate real enthusiasm. I just wish I'd started sooner.
