This historic business was old even when I was growing up but the people continue to make pligrammages here because the service and product are that good!

(August 7, 2023, 2:25 am)I'm pretty much a lover of the classic dog. Chili/meatsauce, onions, mustard, maybe ketchup, maybe kraut. I like lots of additions and maybe subtraction...., but no chili? Not a fan, until today. Blackies Relish is the game changer. 92 years and still going strong. Yes, try them!!

(August 4, 2023, 1:10 am)Should be a 4.5 but Google doesn’t let you give half stars. This place is one of the few “famous” places I’ve been to here in CT that actually lived up to the hype. I had the hotdog and a cheeseburger and both were just so classic….eating them reminded me of how grilled things tasted back in the 80s and 90s. Imagine it’s 1989, it’s summertime, there’s no school and your dad is making hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, that’s exactly what this place reminded me of. And that homemade relish? Ridiculous. It looks like mud but had this really good little spicy kick that lingers at the front of your mouth and tongue whereas most spicy things tend to hit you in the back of the throat. If you want Mayo, lettuce and tomato on your burger, make sure to ask cause they don’t always have it and it’s extra. Lucky Lantern tattoo (where I get all my tattoos done) is less than a mile away from this place so you can assume I’ll stop at bookies almost every time I get any work done.

While name may draw some?s and raised eyebrows, The food is great and old-fashioned dogs and burgers. Juicy burgers that taste like a back yard cookout. You get your dogs ripped. Load up up with the relish and mustard and you're good to go
