  I have been working with Emma off and on for about a year or two. As a fat trans person it means so much to me to work with a provider that is both HAES and trans affirming. Emma has helped me in more ways than I can count in my ED recovery. She meets me where I am at and I never feel guilt or shame from her if I’m struggling. I highly recommend Beyond Therapy and Nutrition.

  I had harmful experiences with eating disorder providers previously, and I was hesitant to try to reach out for support again. After extensive research and some encouragement from various sources, I finally gathered the courage to reach out to Beyond for a dietitian back in Sept/Oct 2021 and I started working with Niki. About a month after I started, I was bodyshamed, not for the first time, by my (unaffiliated!!!) ED therapist and discontinued therapy, so Niki was my sole provider for many months. In April 2022, Niki finally convinced me to try therapy again and I began seeing Fie.
  
  Especially after a long time of pretty much singlehandedly keeping me afloat, Niki completely restored my faith in outpatient providers. She has been nothing but compassionate and kind to me!! Niki has been so gentle, validating, and patient. I have never felt judged for struggling with food or for the state of my body, which was a new experience on both accounts. She encourages me to explore new possibilities and situations, and to call out diet culture / weight stigma and the harm associated with them. Niki has gone out of her way to support me, and overall she’s became a very safe person in my life. I’m extremely grateful for her!!! Our work together eventually gave me the security to reach out to the therapists at Beyond, and I began to work with Fie. I figured that if Niki trusted the therapists she worked with, then I could give it a shot.
  
  I’m still getting used to being in therapy again and building back my trust in therapists, but Fie has been extremely patient and respectful with where I am at and what I’m willing to dive into. I made her a PowerPoint as a sort of introduction to me, and she surprised me by making one for me in return! So far things are promising, and I’m feeling more comfortable as the weeks progress. I’m appreciative of how validating and mindful she has been with my case.
  
  Both of them are very responsive in their communication and are on top of their collaboration. I know Niki particularly updates my PCP regularly. Additionally, they both seem to align with the values of Beyond. As a thin cis white woman, my thoughts on Beyond’s inclusivity doesn’t mean much, but I appreciate the statements Beyond puts out on their social media, as well as the discussions I have with my providers about HAES, ableism, supporting my trans/nb family and friends, human rights issues, etc.
  
  Also, some bonus perks: Kait runs a lovely Body Positive Yoga class! And there is often a dog or two in the office!!
  
  I noticed there weren’t a lot of reviews, so I hope this was helpful to someone considering this practice, because I truly think it is a good and safe space :) And, I wanted to highlight my particular team (if you read this: hi!)

  Couldn’t be happier with my experience working with Emma Leister, RD. She guided me through combatting emotional and deep-seated food issues that stem from childhood. She helped me understand my body and what it needs. There was no shame involved, only empathy and understanding.
