  Bennett has been teaching Altosax to our son, currently 16 yrs old, for over 5 years. He has also been teaching our daughter, 9 yrs, piano. He is very easy to communicate with, punctual and most importantly very good with both the kids. Both are kids really enjoy the lessons and he make the class perfectly balanced between making sure kids are enjoying while they are also being pushed enough to continuously improve. Without a doubt we would highly recommend him to anyone.

  Our son has been taking alto saxophone lessons from Bennett Mazzola for the past 3 years, and, as a student of Bennett's, has progressed from rank beginner to to a key performer in his middle school marching and jazz bands. Bennett does a great job not only explaining and demonstrating saxophone technique, but in teaching rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, and different kinds of musical styles. Teaching music is not his only strength, however. He is an incredibly patient man (probably due to his own experience as a parent). He understands that each student is an individual, with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses, who needs to move at his or her own pace. He encourages his students to work hard and practice, and is not afraid to push them to learn more advanced techniques and music. But he also recognizes when a kid is tired or overworked and hasn't had time to practice, in which case Bennett will scale things down a bit, and focus instead on how best to keep the student engaged in the lesson and in music, without adding to the workload. We know from other parents that Bennett does a great job teaching clarinet and flute, as well (both remotely and in person), and we highly recommend him for anybody who has an interest in learning music.

  My son has been taking saxophone lesson with Ben for 3+ years. Ben is a great teacher - his style to make learning experience fun and at the same time interesting has been very helpful for my son. Ben is very patient with students, and his lessons are always engaging. His ability to explain musical concepts, like key signature, articulation, dynamics, styles etc. and to engage the student is amazing. My daughter will be starting clarinet lesson with Ben soon.
  Ben is a professional musician, but also a great teacher and a mentor. I would recommend anyone who wants to learn or improve in saxophone, clarinet or flute, to take lessons with Ben. It will be worth your time and effort.

  We have been very pleased with the progress and musical development our child has had since working with Ben over the past year. She has gained a great deal of confidence in her clarinet playing and is excited to audition for the regional music festival in the fall. Ben has worked with her on supplementary skill building as well as school assignments and concert pieces with great success. From my time observing lessons, I’ve seen him have a good rapport with children of all ages and abilities. I would not hesitate to recommend Ben and we look forward to continuing to work with him.
