I just came home from 12 days at the Atlantic rehabilitation institute. I cannot say enough positive comments about this facility. It is relatively new and beautiful on gorgeous property. Most importantly, the entire care team… doctors, nurses, nurses assistants physical therapy staff and occupational therapy staff are all top-notch. I received exceptional care which has allowed me to manage my recovery at home without a problem. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a rehabilitation facility. Below is a view from my room.
I spent a few weeks at ARI earlier this year. It was truly my only positive experience after a terrible car accident. The way this facility is run is fantastic - even the food was excellent. With only 38 single rooms (no roommate snoring to deal with), the staff was able to give me the level of care that was needed - unlike another facility that I had a brief stay at a few weeks earlier. I’d like to personally thank all of the doctors, nurses and therapists who helped me through this difficult time and truly made my stay there so very comfortable.
Dr. Luayon and Dr. Remoson are very personable, knowledgeable and actually quite amusing.
Robert was my favorite nurse. He was always good for a laugh and was totally on top of his game. The level of care he provided was amazing. His sidekick Lloyd is a great kid and was always there when I needed something.
My physical therapist was Shannon. She helped me tremendously to get me where I am today. Josh transported me everywhere I needed to be.
My occupational therapist was Linda. I continue to use some of the things she taught me at home to this day - especially the breathing Tai Chi which has helped me get through some stressful situations over the past few months.
Renada was my wound care nurse who was also very knowledgeable and friendly. She taught me and my wife how to properly dress my wounds once I returned home as they needed some extra TLC.
And last but certainly not least is my speech therapist Tina. It truly was a pleasure working with her to get me on the right track.
I am not a fan of hospitals or rehabs and I honestly wouldn’t have been upset if I had to stay another week.
Thank you to everyone above and the entire staff. I will recommend this place over and over again. I hope that I will not be in a situation where I need to stay at an acute rehab - but if I do, ARI will be my top choice.
ARI was a blessing to me! I experienced complications with pneumonia and an infection which caused me a 6 week stay in the hospital with a tracheotomy! I had to learn to learn how to do the everyday tasks we often take for granted: walking, talking, getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc! After leaving the hospital this place was the closest thing to feeling like home . All because of the staff which includes doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, techs transporting patients and helping out during dining and in the gym, as well as transport!
I was blessed insurance approved it and I was able to get in! No one wants to be in rehab, but these were truly caring people, who encouraged you, kept your spirits up, and you felt confident and safe in their care.
Now to mention a few nursing assistants who were kind, helpful, patient, listened and even checked in on me when they were assigned to my room. To name a few: Niki, Meg, Keon, Michelle, Lloyd, Mark, Marnie, and Edith! Niki greeted me on arrival and was my N/A a few times, she even came down from the first floor when she knew I got my voice back! I would have some great conversations which was nice bc it kept you engaged socially! Really all of them, you develop a relationship with them!
The nursing staff was impeccable: Robert, Jamie, Isiah, Elmer, Angela, Daniella, Caitlin, Shay, to name a few! Wayne who was one of the charge nurses was friendly, helpful, supportive, and ensured my family I was in good hands! His expertise along with all the nurses will ensure your stay is amazing!
Robert was nurse once officially, but where my room was I frequently saw him and he became like my second nurse. What made him stand out was not only his humor, laughter, kindness but his expertise and knowledge! Robert explained things to me so I understood and shared what I needed to know about my wounds as he also is a wound nurse, trained nurses, assisted them especially if they were new who hadn’t been at ARI in awhile! He was asked to take out my peg tube and explained it thoroughly before, as well as assure me that and my pic line would be okay coming out. He knew I was anxious about many things, but took the time, no matter how much time it took was to make me feel safe! Because of his knowledge and expertise I felt less anxious and confident I would be okay! Again his personality was amazing, laughter filled the room each time he entered and we all need that while we are in rehab!
Jamie and Elmer I had many times too! Their care, time to explain things, patients with me and personalities made me happy when I knew I was in their section!
Chris was my main OT; however I had some substitutes and they were Nicole, Katie, Liz, Linda and a couple others were great too! I was confident in all their abilities and appreciated their specific positive feedback too. They knew when to push me and I was confident in their care that I would be myself again!,,
Being with these therapists, they always ALL took the time to listen to my fears, anxiety, and most of all successes! You look forward to seeing them everyday! All the OTs were outstanding with their care and therapy!,
Tina was my speech therapist and Paula was my PT and Anil was my respiratory therapist. Amazing, caring, exceptional individuals and will comment on them in another post!
My daughter was at the rehab for 20 days. What an efficient and compassionate place to have someone recuperate at this facility . She wasn’t in her room 5 minutes after being admitted when Nikki was in taking her vitals and Anil was right there checking her Trach. Robert was my daughter nurse a few times and he couldn’t have been anymore helpful, pleasant and helped her in many ways . He also always had a smile when he entered her room. His expertise in wounds was amazing . Wayne, the charge nurse was three to answer questions I had concerning my daughter. He was also very helpful .Dr Luayon and Dr Rempson were very explicit in everything they explained to my daughter. Diane at the desk was very pleasant as I was there every day and she had reassuring words for me. .Thanks to all of you for my daughters recovery.
ARI is a new facility with spacious private rooms, excellent nurses and therapists. The doctor overseeing everything was patient, helpful and responsive. The therapists are amazing and always made my mom feel confident in her progress and independence. The therapist Steve was absolutely the best! The case manager Shabay answered all concerns and questions. The nurses were incredible, especially Linda who put my mom at ease. The nurses assistants were some of the nicest I’ve ever seen and helped my mom immensely. . Each person I met was very kind, helpful and informed - I would wholeheartedly recommend ARI. Thank you to the staff that helped my mom get stronger after her hospital stay!
