  Gi and NoGi classes available. It’s nice that there’s a place to train in Upper Township. It’s even better that the instructor, Chris Martin, is extremely knowledgeable and talented. Simple and always very effective approaches. Beginner or not he’s got you covered. I’ve been going a little over a month and it’s been changing my life for the better. I just need to stick with it and that’s the plan.
  I transitioned out of the military a few years ago and it’s been tough. Ups n’ downs. It was a difficult life change for me. Now I feel I have a place where I can relax and feel comfortable. Surrounded by good energy. Chris is a veteran himself. There’s quite a few vets that go there but everyone is amazing. I’m a new white belt and a beginner in the world of jiu jitsu. It’s challenging, yes, but worth it. Chris told me from the beginning, everyone here leaves their ego at the door. It’s not a gym full of meat heads, it’s a gym full of ppl that want to get better and help each other succeed. There’s very experienced practitioners that go there and beginners as well. I’m brand new and I have minimal experience. That will only benefit me and anyone else that decides to join the Akashic gym. No one there makes me feel like I’m different because of my experience. I’m excited for every class. Chris cares about his gym and he cares about his students.
  Mental health issues are a problem for many ppl in this country. And Akashic is a place that will help you with that if that is an issue for you. As a combat veteran, myself I’ve benefited greatly in a few short weeks. I’m blessed to have been introduced to Chris and the world of BJJ at Akashic.I encourage anyone interested to try it. It’s more than just a physical sport. It’s it’s own type of therapy. Therapy on motion.

  I’ve been training at akashic for over a year and a half now. And my life has changed drastically for the better. I’m off all anxiety and depression meds. My relationship with my wife and kids is stronger than ever. Bjj saves lives. Don’t believe me? Come try it. Akashic is a place of peace and all are welcome. We take care of each other at this gym. I also have my 6 year old son training there too. He loves it!!! We have a great kid program and I’m there to help most days. It’s the best thing I never knew I needed.

  Throughout my jiu jitsu journey, I’ve had the opportunity to study with some of the most acclaimed practitioners in the world - Alexandre Ribeiro, Ricardo De La Riva, and John Disimone to name a few - I can easily say that Akashic instructor Chris Martin offers the same level of world class teaching, and provides a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students of all skill levels and physical abilities. I look forward to continuing my BJJ journey with Akashic for the foreseeable future. Thanks Chris!

  My sister and her friend take their sons here and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the owner/trainer. My nephew raves about how fun and inspiring the classes are. He learns new things everyday and has never been more interested and involved in sports. I’ve been hesitant on starting my son in Ju Jitsu but after reading these reviews and seeing how happy my nephew is, I’m going to sign my son up and give it a try!

  I train here as an adult and absolutely love it. Chris is a phenomenal teacher. My daughters also do the kids classes here and they have such a good time while learning self defense and getting amazing exercise. 10/10 recommended.

  Absolutely amazing and supportive environment. My two daughters go here to learn proper techniques and self defense. Professor Chris is kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable. He teaches the children to build each other up as a team and also focuses on individual strengths as well. He instills discipline but also makes it fun and the kids have a blast! I have seen such a boost in confidence with my girls while training here for the last 8 months. I can’t wait until my son is older enough to join! All around amazing place for children and adults to learn Ju Jitsu. Highly recommend!
